Why This Matters
An escalator is a moving mechanical system, and cleaning it carelessly turns a routine task into an entrapment or fall risk in seconds. It is also one of the most visually inspected surfaces in the building, since guests stand still and stare at the steps ahead of them. The standard exists to keep both the guest's eyes and their fingers safe.
