Why This Matters
A DND sign is a guest's explicit boundary, and knocking through it—even gently—breaks a trust the whole property depends on. But food left unattended outside a door is its own safety failure waiting to happen. This protocol exists because the two risks pull in opposite directions, and the runner needs a clear, rehearsed answer rather than a judgment call in the hallway.
