Why This Matters
Review volume and recency drive ranking, so solicitation is legitimate strategy; solicitation done wrong is the fastest route to platform penalties and public accusations of manufactured reputation. Gating (steering only happy guests toward public platforms) violates major platform policies and, in some jurisdictions, consumer law. The asset being protected is believability.
