Why This Matters
A cancellation is the hotel's last interaction with a guest who may return, and a fee applied clumsily guarantees they will not. It is also a payment event: an undocumented fee is a chargeback the hotel will lose. The cancellation number is the guest's proof and the hotel's shield; neither side should ever lack one.
